Since its founding in Flåm in 2003, FjordSafari has been run by the dedicated
husband-and-wife team, Rune and May Lene.
Over the past two decades, their passion and commitment have grown FjordSafari from a small family business into a trusted and well- known name in Flåm’s tourism industry.
As of January 2026, we are delighted to announce that Rune and May Lene are now the sole owners of

This may not appear to be a major shift for you, but it marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for us. With their full ownership, we’re entering a phase of renewed focus, development, and innovation.
As always, we are committed to improving what we do while staying true to the values that have brought us here. Some things will change, others will remain the same, but our core mission remains unchanged.

A Story About Our Founders
When you join one of our tours, you’re not just following a map- you’re stepping into a story. A story of love, strength, and a shared dream between May Lene Steinheim Lunden and Rune Tokvam, the heart behind our company.
Their journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been real. Every challenge made them stronger, every success kept them grounded in what matters most: creating meaningful experiences.
Our tours aren’t born in boardrooms, they come from real moments. Like the day the Snowshoe Hike was created: On a crisp autumn day, the owners set out to get some fresh air, hiking the mountain surrounded by forests and distant peaks.
Everything was completely still, silent, and vast, and the sweeping views made them pause and take it all in, bringing that rare feeling of being fully present.
Sitting there, embraced by nature’s beauty, May Lene turned and said;
“We have to share this.” In that moment, an idea of a snowshoe hike to that particular place was born.
That’s how we work. Every tour, from fjord adventures to mountain hikes and cultural journeys, is shaped by moments that moved us and inspired us to share them with others. This is more than a business; it’s passion, experience, and a deep belief in the power of nature. When you walk with us, you become part of that story.
